LIFE BEGINS WITH JESUS: The Gift that Keeps on Giving

  • Through Christ All Things Were Made

In John 1:1-4,14, we see that it was through Jesus that creation and all living things came into being.  Jesus existed as the Word of God  before  He took on human form as a baby. It was by the Word of God that all things were created (Genesis 1:1-31).

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.(John 1:1-4 ESV)

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14 ESV)

  • Through Christ Abundant Life is Experienced

According to John 10:10b, through Jesus we can experience the abundant life.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10 ESV)

  • Through Christ We Can Have Eternal Life

In John 3:16, we see that through Jesus we can have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believed in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 ESV)

  • Life on Every Level is Found in Christ

Life on every level is found in Jesus Christ.  God made a provision for us to experience this life. It is found in a restored relationship with God Himself who is the giver and sustainer of life. The abundant life is a life of fulfillment, joy, peace, and purpose.

  • Christ Our Sacrifice – God’s Part

Because God is holy and righteous and we are not, we had to be brought into agreement with His nature in order to experience a relationship with Him.  Out of His love and mercy, He has provided a way for us to be restored to the status that Adam had with Him – full communication and provision with all the benefits that go with it.  This came at a great cost.  God gave Himself in the person of Jesus as a sacrificial payment for our sins.  The Mosaic law proved that we could never be good enough to meet God’s standard of holiness.

Jesus was the once for all sacrifice for our sins.  He took our place in the court of heaven.  He served the sentence we deserved and rose from the dead to give us the victory over death, hell and the grave. (1 Corinthians 15:51-56).

  • Receive and Believe – Our Part

Our part is to simply recognize our need for forgiveness and believe that Jesus paid the price for us individually and personally.

But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of the will of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12,13 ESV)

As we celebrate Christmas and look forward to the new year, put your faith in Christ Jesus today for the forgiveness of your sins.  Receive eternal life and fellowship with God with the abundant life that accompanies this restored relationship. Do it today.  Do not delay.  Let this be your independence day – a day of freedom from confusion, fear, frustration and the bondage of sin.  Begin the journey of abundant living – a life of purpose, balance, peace and joy despite circumstances.

Here is a prayer that you may pray:

Dear God, I admit that I have sinned and need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus came and died for my sins and rose from the grave to give me victory over sin and its penalty.  I receive the gift of Jesus’ sacrifice as the payment for my sins personally. Thank you for forgiving me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you sincerely prayed this prayer, you are now part of God’s family and you have eternal life and God’s Spirit has come to live in you and made you brand new. (2 Corinthians 5:17,21)
